‘I Was Meant To Love’ emerges from cold winter in which singer-songwriter Leon C tried to rationalise new-found emotions and anxieties, and the growth that comes with them.
Already hailed for his musical talent and song-writing abilities within both national and local circuits, with hundreds of shows under his belt – some of those shows included in his two recently completed, self-planned tours – his new single showcases not only these aforementioned talents but also his newly formed backing band.
You don’t need his ‘Songs That Inspired’ Spotify playlist (though still most certainly worth a listen) to know ‘I Was Meant To Love’ was inspired by the likes of Passenger, The Lumineers and Father John Misty – the five minute piece invokes a very man and his guitar-esque feel until the backing band appears. The piano and soft drums don’t overpower the song however, it instead invites a feeling of nostalgia into the listener, making Leon’s candid yet simultaneously beautifully worded lyrics feel even more relatable.
With much more to come, including tracks to be featured on his upcoming, sophomore album recorded at the infamous Abbey Road Studies – Leon is excited to share his new single, which is available to listen to on all streaming platforms now.
