DMA’S played to a sold-out Brixton Academy on Friday ahead of their new album ‘The Glow’ due April 24th.
Support comes from Bad Dreems & Everyone You Know, with both bands kicking off the night and getting the crowd ready for what’s still to come.
DMA’S erupt on stage soon after to chants of ‘D-D-DMA’S’ as the crowd goes into a frenzy to catch a glimpse of the trio. The set is opened with ‘Feels Like 37’, a throwback to their debut EP.
The songs flow through, as they smash out hit after hit. Chants from the crowd occur after every track, desperate for the next one to start. Stand out songs include ‘Silver’ and ‘Delete’, which sees the band let the crowd take the lead and sing the choruses for these tracks.
The crowd keeps the same energy for all the tracks, seemingly never stopping, with flares even present for some songs. They clamber on friends shoulders for each track, belting the lyrics and taking everything in.
The band leave the stage after ‘Play It Out’ in preparation for the three-song encore. The trio’s return to the stage is met with the same reaction as when they first came on, and they get straight back into it with ‘Timeless’. ‘Lay Down’ gets even those at the back and sides dancing along, but it is the closing track ‘Your Low’ that really gets to the crowd, especially since it is the first time it has been played since 2016, and it is the perfect way to end such a euphoric set.
A crowd like that is something that doesn’t come easily, but for DMA’S it seems natural. If anything, this gig proved how much of a success the eagerly anticipated new album ‘The Glow’ will be. DMA’S are a band you should not be missing out on.
